Surgery with Allied Subjets
Department of Surgery offers training to the medical cadets of 2nd, 3rd and 4th phase of MBBS course. The main objective of the department is to provide community-oriented community need-based education so as to produce good young doctors. They will be able to diagnose and manage the common surgical problems/emergencies prevalent in Bangladesh. They will also be able undertake the responsibility of management of common casualties or natural calamities and identify the surgical problems requiring referral to the appropriate specialists. The allocation of teaching hours for the subject is 300 hours for theoretical lectures (Basic principles of surgery, Gastro-Intestinal surgery, Urology, Thoracic surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular surgery, Pediatric surgery, Organ transplantation surgery and the allied specialties-Anaesthesiology, Radiology & Imaging, Blood transfusion, Radiation oncology, Dental surgery, Physical medicine and Rehabilitation) and 3 years of clinical practice in the affiliated teaching hospitals as well as the community-catchment areas as per syllabus.
